June 23rd night: recommendations to enjoy. Extra: laws on explosives and pyrotechnics
In Sant Joan fire is the celebration centre. We will list some precautions on the use of firecrackers:
1. Buy the firecrackers only in authorised places, as long as you have the European certification for the manufacture of European petards (see link at the end of the text).
2. Read the instructions carefully. See the ages and categories of petards corresponding to each one: at 12 years old those of low danger (Category F1), at 16 years old those of low danger (Category F2) and at 18 years old those of medium danger (Category F3).
3. Children must always be watched by an adult while them are: choosing the place to throw the firecrackers, prepare them filling and fill them.
4. Do not introduce petards in: packages could explode and the recipient could become shrapnel.
5. Never introduce firecrackers in your pockets: they could explode.
6. Before of throwing a petard look that nobody is near to you. Never throw it with flammable composts near.
7. Do not reuse the firecracker.
8. Do not throw agafant-flying fireworks or pyrotechnics rockets with your hand, with the handle broken or in places where fire risk exists. If a petard fails don't touch it in 30 minutes and submerge it in water to make it useless.
9. Doors and windows must be closed in the zone near of the street in where we're throwing firecrackers: avoid fire risk.
10. Do not throw firecrackers in inhabited/local areas or closed spaces in general.
11. You have to light the firecracker far away from the fuse.
12. It is forbidden to shoot light balloons or any other device that focuses on a distance of less than 500 metres from forests.
13. The burglary must be collected from the lands and terraces to prevent the spurts of some rocket from causing a fire. The tendals must also be collected to prevent them from getting caught in the spotlight.
14. Because of the tradition of making fires, Barcelona Firefighters remember that they must be located more than 15 metres from the façades of the houses and the parked cars, and electric or telephone lines. In addition, there must be a sufficient pass for emergency vehicles.
