Spanish citizens are getting old. People who have 65 years or more represents currently a 18,1% in 2030 is foreseen that the same group will represent a 30% of the whole population.

Carles Subirà, one of the Feliu’s shareholders, will help us to understand which are the main  worries about accessibility and how can Feliu help you in order to reach a better accessibility.

A neighbor of a community told to Mr. Subirà ‘We are getting older and every time is harder to overcome the physical barriers before the lift’ (…) ‘we are lucky here: nobody has a disability’. We wanted to install a ramp, stairlift or simply erase the stairs but the cost of these works is elavated’ (…) some neighbors are against every expense, moreover, this works are harde than we thought’.

Mr. Subirà says: ‘the showed example points out the two things which usually blocked an accessibility reform: its cost and complexity’.

We don’t want to be economic with the truth, is true that the difficulties exist but as Subira warns: ’our professional duty is to solve difficulties and we can do it by  seeking an architect, evaluate his/her project, fill every administrative authoritzation to make the works, gather neighbors, compare more than 2 different budgets,  establish extraordinary contributions to works etc.’.

What actions does Feliu to improve accesibility and why?

1.       We make easier your access as a visitor in present and future

2.       Bare in mind that a building which is accessible to everybody is revalued by around a 15%. So, it is worthwhile to carry out the works in order to improve accessibility and our Facility Management department is ready to help your owner’s  community.

3.       In case of having a home rented to old or disable people we make sure that this condition is not a problem itself to maintain the rent condition

4.       Every cost that can be linked to the works carried out in your building is subsidized  with a maximum of 60% of the total amount.

5.       If you have a disability certificate made by Spanish administration which recognizes you a percentage of disability Spanish law protects you. Find out how? in case the owner’s community  denies you to carry out a work  for accessibility you can suit the owner’s community in a court.

You can rely on Finques Feliu for carrying out all the process towards accessibility not only because of our experience also because we are aware of the grants given by administration and we know the legal frame which surrounds disability topic and we are convinced of the necessity of removing every physical barrier.
