DIY: how to make a shelf?
This coming Friday is All Saints' Day we Suppose that you have already your Hallowen Pumpkin done. Just in case you get bored, we make you another 'Do It Yourself proposal': to make a shelf.
DIY is a very widespread hobby in northern Europe where the cold rules days and nights long months and you have to be at home. Also, the abundance of wood favors this hobby Do you have any doubt about it? The world's most famous (self)furniture firm is Swedish and was born from the passion for them of the company owner'. We are not Nordic but we are also in love with DIY.
Do you want to have a wonderful library at home? Do you want a more elegant house? or simply want to have more space to place your favorite objects? Whatever your motivation we guide you so that you can make the shelf and be satisfied with your creativity.
A shelf can be made in many ways, all of them simple, even using belts and other recycled components you already know the 3 r's Don't you? Recycle, reuse and reduce. At Feliu we are committed with the Planet. In this post we are going to give new life to a drawer with the help of Hogarmania.
Step 1: sand the remains of paint or varnish that may have the drawer. This action seeks to make 'tabula rasa' in a nick of time you will begin to 'customize' your future shelf. Bare in mind, do not forget to clean the dust from the drawer that you are going to transform into shelves: it must be impeccable.
Step 2: paint the drawer using a brush in the corners and a roller for the rest of the drawer. Obviously, be patient, you need to wait for the paint to dry completely.
Step 3: do you want to apply more colours? Use body tape to avoid to stain the already painted surface.
Step 4: transform the drawer into a shelf. The time has come to put a wooden strip of 2*2 cm. that we must paint. The ribbon is to prevent objects from falling once the shelf is made. You must fix it with screws to the sides so that it does not fall.
Step 5: Hang the shelf, which was born from your hands, on the wall using two eyebolts.
You've finished your job and more than ever we're sure about that a sentence comes to your mind: 'elegance is in simplicity' and, as our interior designer Pep Feliu underlined: minimalism is a key point.
